Pros and cons of LinkedIn Students app for iPhone and iPad
LinkedIn Students app good for
Keeps you in the loop and condenses career information related to particular field.
Useful for students as me. Insightful article, very relevant resource
Good features; Im sure LinkedIn will add a little more juice soon.
Looks quite good, but lets see if can help with employment and placement.
Very informative! Gives you a perspective on whats available in your desired field of work. So far so good.
Smoothly organized. Great for building your career as a student.
Some bad moments
This app has good intentions but every day I get job suggestions from the states when I said my location is Canada.
This app may crash unexpectedly, and it needs more information in order to even remotely tailor its recommendations to you. If I am connected to my original LinkedIn, this app should be able to gather sufficient information from my profile.
It also seems like the layout on the home screen is also very repetitive as well, because I am not able to browse through all its recommendations in a given category at once. Instead, I have to keep selecting the more option at the end of the set of pages. That is very time consuming and inefficient. This simply complicated things even more, as if the original LinkedIn wasnt already pushing it.
This app captures all of the worst of the millennial trope. Its primary interaction is a left->right swipe whereby the user evaluates a job title/company in half a second, passes judgment, and gets more tailored company recommendations. There is no depth whatsoever. Anyone who already knows what theyre looking for would be wasting their time by using this app to look for a job.
Give me 3 recommendations that I can *really* dig into, not 500 job titles and alums to flip through.
Great for finding jobs in your industry, especially jobs that are looking for your major or expertise!
Nice and simple. Plus this app has good content. Its free, give it a download and see if it will work for you.
Needs to filter based on specific job search. For example, if Im seeking an internship for this summer, Im not as interested in seeing possible full-time opportunities yet. The app does have a lot of potential with nurtured development!
